I wouldn’t recommend anyone wearing a producer, director, and DP hat on a project but when I do, swipe till the end to see what some of that prep work looks like.

This treatment was heavily inspired by the great work of @nadiraamrani & @olancollardy on the incredibly talented Bree Runway’s “Pressure.” Budget was tight so we were limited to one location and one thing I refuse to do if I don’t have to is shoot outside in Atlanta during the summer 😅

Special thanks to @austenhowell_ for coming onboard and going above and beyond. You have incredible attention to detail.

I’m in the middle of pre-production for a number of other projects right now but I’m never too busy to pause and express gratitude. Kasting Spellz was my very first official in-house production for @hazelwoodproductions and the amount of support I received blew me away. It’s a few people I just couldn’t have done it without.

Firstly, @themonicarobinson. You have stood 10 toes down in being in my corner, even still to this day. I never imagined us to grow together the way we have when we first met. You’re one of the several black women who have done nothing but support and lift me up and for that I thank you and I have so much love for you. You are so special, so kind, so hard working and I know the time is coming for you to receive your flowers.

@shelbyupgraded, you’re one of the most selfless and resourceful humans I know, honestly a mentor. I have so much appreciation for all you do for your community strictly out of love. I’m manifesting that reach every goal that you’ve ever imagined and when in need I’ll always be there.

@_kennyabner, a business partner turned close friend. It’s always so pleasant to see how much you pour into the people around you. You took a gamble and believed in me when I didn’t have much to show for it. I will forever show up for you the way you’ve shown up for me. #4L

@tyjemison and @papigeno06, I’ve spent the majority of my filmmaking career with no real guidance, learning from my own failures and mistakes. Having you two believe in me while providing me with honest and ethical mentorship is a type of love and support you can’t put a price tag on. There will never be a time when you both can’t call me up in a time of need, THANK YOU.

Last but definitely not least, @obioojones. I’m sure it’s a selective group of people who might assume your content is not you or disingenuous but they are sadly mistaken. You truly have a heart of gold and I hope no person, place, or thing can ever rob you of that. Thank you for making time in your schedule. Thank you for pouring into me. Thank you for showing love to this project.

Trust the process.

I generally always forget to capture content but I wanted to change that with this project. I think it’s so important that people see how much goes into self-funding and producing your own projects. I love dance but I’ve never been hired to produce or direct a dance visual so this project was me creating that opportunity for myself. To my team and everyone involved, I can’t thank you enough for trusting and supporting me! Thank you, God. I know there’s much more to come.
